Reţele Electrice România has completed modernization works worth over 22 million lei in Constanța County

  • Tens of kilometers of modernized network to increase energy security in Constanța County;
  • Over 4,000 customers in Navodari will benefit from these modernized grid networks

Constanța – Reţele Electrice România, part of the PPC group in Romania, has completed the modernization works of the electricity distribution networks serving over 4,000 customers in Năvodari, for a total value of over 22 million lei (including VAT). The company has attracted European funds for co-financing projects, through the Modernization Fund. The European co-financing was worth about 17.5 million lei.

Thus, at the end of 2025, Reţele Electrice România completed a project to modernize and increase the reliability of the medium-voltage electricity networks related to the Năvodari transformer station. The total value of the investment exceeded 22 million lei, of which 17.5 million lei came from the Modernization Fund.

Among the works carried out within this project, aimed at improving the quality of the distribution service, are: the modernization of the medium voltage lines in the Năvodari 110/20 kV transformer station, where about 37 km of medium voltage power lines have been modernized and extended. Also, 14 transformer substations have been modernized and digital systems have been introduced that provide a higher level of monitoring and control of the network.

The completion of this project, financed through the Modernization Fund, reflects our constant commitment to consolidate and modernize the distribution networks in Constanța County, especially in the Năvodari area, where we are also modernizing the transformer station. Through these investments, we create the premises for the integration of modern remote-control technologies and for the development of a safer and more efficient infrastructure, which better meets the needs of local communities and contributes to increasing the quality of life.

Mihai Pește, General Director of Reţele Electrice România.

Through these modernization works of the transformer lines and substations, the quality of the service offered is strengthened by increasing the safety, but also the reliability of the network in the electricity supply.

The company Rețele Electrice Romania operates networks with a total length of about 136.000 kilometers in three major areas of the country: Muntenia Sud (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering one third of the local distribution market, and develops an investment program to improve the quality of services, safety and performance of the networks and local implementation of the environmental standards of the PPC group. The electricity networks operated by Rețele Electrice Romania include 293 power stations and over 26.000 secondary substations.
