Sustainable Development Program (PDD)

The Sustainable Development Program (PDD) 2021-2027 is developed in accordance with the European Union’s (EU) objective of conserving, protecting, and improving environmental quality and is aligned with Articles 11, 191, and 174 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU.

PDD addresses the challenges identified under the second policy objective of EU Regulation No. 1060/2021 of the European Parliament and the Council, ‘A Greener Europe.’

Our ongoing projects fall under ‘Priority 4 – Promoting energy efficiency, smart energy systems and networks, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions’ and ‘Action 4.3 – Reducing GHG emissions and increasing energy efficiency in systems. The amounts allocated for Priority 4 are 325 million euros through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), 523.76 million euros through the Cohesion Fund (CF), and 269.78 million euros as a national contribution.

The specific objectives of the projects we are implementing are:

  • promoting energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions (ERDF and CF);
  • promoting renewable energy sources in accordance with Directive (EU) 2018/2001 of the European Parliament and the Council on renewable energy, including its sustainability criteria (ERDF);
  • developing local smart energy systems, networks, and storage systems outside the trans-European energy network (ERDF and CF).
