POD
Find out if a smart meter is already installed or when we will install one at your address, according to the plans approved by ANRE. The POD is an identification code for your electricity consumption point, as recorded by the distributor. Its format varies depending on your electricity distributor. You can find your POD on the invoice from your electricity supplier.
How do we measure electricity consumption?
Discover how a meter works, how we perform readings, and what periodic replacement involves.
First and foremost, a smart meter operates at its full capacity only when integrated into an intelligent metering system. More precisely, together with other meters, it sends information to a data concentrator, which securely communicates it to the central system. The transmitted data includes electricity consumption, the load curve, and other electrical parameter values. This process uses the PLC (power-line communication) system, meaning no Wi-Fi signals are used or generated.
Integrated into an intelligent metering system, this type of meter securely communicates directly with us, your energy distributor, as well as with you. It allows us to collect and analyze data to identify areas needing improvements, while enabling you to monitor and adjust your consumption. If you already have a smart meter integrated into a remote reading system, check your consumption information in your online account.
The smart meter complies with all national and EU environmental requirements. It is CE-marked and comes with a certificate of conformity (in accordance with Article 5 of DG no. 1022/2002), ensuring that the product does not endanger life, health, workplace safety, or the environment. Check the technical specifications of the smart meters we are currently installing: CERT system and CERM system. For more details, download the user manual here.
Consumption is automatically read, enabling differentiated tariffs
Since meter readings are transmitted automatically, securely, and error-free, your supplier will bill you based on your actual consumption, rather than an estimate. Data transmission is continuous, giving you more freedom to choose flexible supply offers. The smart meter can store six different tariff types, allowing for custom billing periods configurable by time intervals, days, weeks, months, or seasons. In the future, smart appliances will be able to read the smart meter’s tariffs automatically and determine the most cost-effective time to operate.
Monitor and control your energy consumption
Consumption data is displayed instantly and continuously in your online account, giving you a clear overview of your usage and helping you adjust your behavior to save money and energy. If your meter is integrated into a remote reading system, you can track consumption variations hourly by accessing “Curbe de sarcină” in your account. You can view the recorded meter readings at different time intervals and access detailed information about daily and hourly electricity consumption. If you have multiple consumption places associated with your account, first access “Informații consum”, select the POD code for the desired location, and then navigate to “Curbe de sarcină”.
Faster reconnection and protection from overvoltage
If you experience a power outage due to network incidents, the smart meter allows for a faster reconnection by providing valuable data about the location, type, and magnitude of incidents at medium and high voltage, reducing intervention time since some operations can be performed remotely.
Separate measurement of produced energy
For producers and prosumers, the bidirectional measurement feature of the smart meter enables seamless integration of distributed generation units. Whether you generate electricity using wind turbines or solar panels, the smart meter measures distinctively the energy delivered to the grid and the energy consumed from the grid. This allows you to track when you consume energy from the grid and when you use the renewable energy you produce. For business customers, this also enables customized tariffs, reducing costs based on real-time market fluctuations.
Save time when changing your supplier
Supplier changes, connections, disconnections, tariff modifications, contract closures, and transfers can all be managed remotely.
POD delegation
If you plan to switch energy suppliers, you can use the “Delegare POD Furnizor Potențial” service in your online account. This feature allows you to grant potential suppliers temporary access for seven calendar days to your consumption data, enabling them to analyze your monthly energy consumption, access reading history and load curves if your smart meter supports this function, and offer you the most suitable energy plan. To delegate a POD, go to “Delegare POD Furnizor Potențial” in your account, click “Cerere nouă delegare POD”, select the supplier and the POD you wish to delegate. You can also check “Delegări active”, the list of PODs visible to potential suppliers, and “Istoric delegări”, the list of past inactive delegations.
One of the main features of the smart meter is remote disconnection and reconnection, allowing it to shut off or restore power at your consumption point.
If your electricity supply was interrupted, it may be due to a power outage in the grid or internal installation issues. Check your internal installation first. If circuit breakers have tripped, reset them. If power is still unavailable, contact us at the emergency number available here.
The second cause could be that the internal relay of the smart meter may have tripped, in which case the LED display will be on, showing the symbol __/ __. The meter is powered, but the supply point is not. This could be due to unpaid electricity bills, in which case you should contact your supplier, or exceeding the contracted power limit. In this case, turn off some devices and reset the meter following the user manual instructions. You may also contact us to request a power supplementation.
If you are wondering what to do when the smart meter stops recording electricity consumption, we advise you to carefully read the message displayed by it. The screen of your meter can tell you that it no longer registers consumption or that an increase in power is needed in your home. Find out how the smart meter tells you that your home needs a power supplementation!
Map of smart meter installations
We have installed the largest number of smart meters in Romania, contributing to the digitalization of the electricity network. We will continue this modernization process according to the plans approved by ANRE. Check the approved installation schedule here and use the interactive map to find out where smart meters will be installed in your region in 2024.
