Bucharest – Rețele Electrice Romania, part of PPC group of companies in Romania, launched on the electronic public procurement platform SEAP a public tender with an estimated value above 132 million lei (without VAT), for the acquisition of 24 kV prefabricated equipment for secondary substations, which will be used in investment projects carried out in the period 2025 – 2026.
This initiative aims to develop and modernize the electricity distribution infrastructure – an essential pillar for increasing the reliability of the network and adapting to climate change and the evolution of customer consumption needs. Through this project, we support our strategic objective of providing a more efficient, more flexible and current distribution service, in a context of rapid urbanization and expansion of decentralized production. In this context, the company plans to purchase medium voltage compact cells for secondary substations, with load separator, as well as monobloc cells of medium voltage, without SF6, equipped with void switch and load separator. This equipment will replace the old installations, contributing to the modernization of the network, improving the performance of the distribution network and reducing the number of maintenance interventions, in accordance with quality standards in electricity distribution.
The contract will have a validity period of 3 years. To encourage sustainable practices, the company included specific criteria in the selection process. Bidders demonstrating the use of recyclable packaging will benefit from an additional score in the evaluation of the technical offers. This aspect emphasizes the company’s concern for environmental protection and implementing green solutions in the supply chain.
Rețele Electrice Romania continues its investment plan in 2025 for its area of responsibility, with the objective of creating a modern electricity distribution, digital and ready to offer to it’s customers solutions adapted to new realities of the energy transition. This year, Rețele Electrice Romania plans to invest more than 730 million lei. On top of that, there will be projects with funding attracted from the POIM and the Fund for Modernization in the three areas, Banat, Dobrogea and Muntenia, which will be completed in the period 2026-2029 worth 1.4 billion lei, of which approx. 340 million lei which will be fully founded from own founds.
By the end of the 2025, the total number of smart meters installed by the company Rețele Electrice Romania will reach approximately 2 million, the highest volume reached by any electricity distribution operator from Romania.
The compRețele Electrice Romania operates electricity networks with a total length of approximately 134.000 kilometers across three important regions of the country: Muntenia (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering one-third of the local distribution market, and developing a program of investments aimed at improving the service quality, the network safety and performance, and local implementing of the PPC Group’s environmental standards. The electricity networks operated by Rețele Electrice Romania include 289 substations and more than 25.000 secondary substations.
